Self-care is an essential tool for maintaining physical, mental, and spiritual fitness and keeping PICs at bay.

We recently took a trip to Los Angeles to visit with family. We had an opportunity to practice this essential tool of “Self-care. We visited “SPA AVENUE” in San Fernando Valley, California, to get a facial. Spa Avenue is owned by my God brother, Keith, and his wife, Diana.
Our facials were done by the proprietor, Diana, a licensed aesthetician. Diana’s technique was both professional and caring. Penda went first. This being my first time experiencing a facial, I admit I was nervous. When Keith took me to peek in on Penda, I found her lying on a comfortable table. The environment was filled with soothing sounds, soft lights, and an amazing, pleasant fragrance. This immediately put me at ease and calmed the overactive imaginings of my PIC’s driven ruminating.
After my unbelievable treatment, we sat in the beautiful lobby area of Spa Avenue for a few minutes. We engaged in uplifting conversations with Diana and her loving and supportive husband, Keith. We had not seen each other since my release from prison in October 2019. This was before the onset of my PICs.

This was truly a healing and blessed experience. It was delightfully rejuvenating and a pleasure. We left SPA AVENUE with renewed, glowing skin. Diana’s highly effective neck and shoulder massage had us rested and tension-free. We can’t wait to visit again!
